Higher Ground

All righty, this movie, from first glance, sounds like a good movie, but trust me it's not. I can completely relate to the plot, but unfortunately the way the story is told hardly sounds like the description which is a religious woman loses faith in her religion, but it's really about a woman who loses everything, that also happens to be religion. It felt pushed, and unnatural. I'll give it a star, uno, one. So live long and prosper.

Rise of the new Planet of the Apes saga

I'm unable to know whether you saw the monstrosity that is Tim Burton's vision of the apes movies, unless you comment! But my point is that the new movie, 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes'is ten times better than the last one. James Franco does a stunning performance, but Andy Serkis steals the show with a emotional, and moving performance as Cesar. It is a good movie, I'd give it a 3 out of 5 stars. Of course, nothing compares to the original movie, but the little connections that they make to the original movie add to it. Anyway, live long and prosper!

Star Trek

Now, unless you've been living outside of our quadrent of the galaxy, you know that it is a gift to mankind given by the ever-loving Gene Roddenberry. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy, Star Trek still lives on. He created wonderful characters, an interesting spin on science, and a positive outlook on the future. He has given us scientists, engineers, and has even saved lives. He has also shown me who I am, and I haven't even met him. A television show did that for me, and if you haven't seen Star Trek, see it. Live long, and prosper.

Captain America is the newest beauty from Marvel studios. I give it four out of five stars, only because it wasn't the best movie I've ever seen. This movie has action, adventure, comedy, and romance, and puts it there in a believable way. The only thing is, that you can tell that it's a new Marvel movie from the feel of it. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it, I'm just saying that there's a different style. You can literally tell the difference between an old and new Marvel movie. The last old movie was Spider-Man 3. Anyway, back to Captain America. It's a great movie, and you should seeit before it goes out of theaters, like how I missed Thor and Green Lantern.

Now, today, I'll review a movie series that is old yet new, Harry Potter. I'll review in chronological order. Now Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is probably the best movie of the series, it is the closest it could possibly be to the book. It has good casting, plot, and the Villain doesn't die from a bullet to the back(check out X-Men: First Class post for further information). If you haven't seen this movie, you better have been stuck in an alternate dimension for the past ten years, then you've missed the best movie series in the past, well, ever really. No movies can be more connected than these! 5 out of 5 stars, see it, or die! Live long and prosper.

Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon

I went into this movie thinking that it would be terrible, but it was better than I expected. It had a good plot, special effects, and acting. I would definately see it again. The one thing I just didn't understand was, what happened to Megan Fox? They didn't talk about her at all. They could've put in a line about how she died, or maybe Sam and her broke up, but instead they just chose to ignore her. Besides from that little detail, it's great for a newcomer, and a revisiting Transformers fan. I would see it again, so live long and prosper.

Disney's 'Ant Farm'

Disney has come up with their usual slapped together, monthly monster. This time it's about kids with Advanced Natural Talents, or A.N.T for short, going into highschool. After watching the pilot, and what I believe to be is another episode, I litterally hate the show. They have bad jokes (which include religious and innapropriate breast jokes), bad actors, and a misunderstanding of kids with talents superior of others. Real kids with advanced natural talents aren't the spazz-like, paranoids they appear as on this show. I don't like it, and I bet it will get cancelled within a few weeks, tand go on the shelf with other rejected Disney ideas. And personally, I hope it does. To end on a lighter note, live long and prosper.

X-Men: First Class

The new movie in the X-Men saga was fantastic! I was on the edge of my seat hanging on to every thrilling moment. I love the origins of all the mutants, especially the twist with Charles and Mistique. Unlike other movies, there was only two problems for me.
  1. In the end of the movie, you see Charles Xavier in a wheelchair looking like he did the whole movie, but in the previous movie, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, you see Charles hop off the helicopter and walk twords the escaped mutants. When he does that, he has no hair and he's twenty years older! What, are we just supposed to disreguard this fact and pretend that things are all happy and willy-nilly! Well I'm not.
  2. My second reason has to do with why Charles is in his wheelchair, he got shot in the back. Now this can explain it, but I'm not very satisfied with it. I would've prefered to see him slowly lose his ability to walk because of his growing mind, similar to Daredevil. In Daredevil(not just the movie, but comics as well), after he loses his sight, his other abilities become inhanced. But ofcourse they just shot Xavier in the back.
Other from these two things, X-Men: First Class was a great movie and I totally recommend it. So go see it, and live long and prosper!

What is this all about?

I, like many others, am a huge television and movie fan, especially ones involving science fiction. I intend to post, comment, and review things like television shows, movies, etc. I've been told by many a people that I have a lot of opinions, and should share them with the world. That is how Sci-fi 101 was born. Anyone may feel free to comment anything they feel in response to my posts. Now, Live long and prosper.
